November 15th

FLA:
This week in FLA we continued working on the noun (proper & common), how to change them from masculine to feminine and how to change them from singular to plural. We had a period to practice using this website and students are welcome to use this website at home. We also went to the library and pick a new French book.

The next song is Je cours from Marie-Mai and the lyrics are here. We will listen to it and fill the blanks on Wednesday, November 20th.

Social:
This week in Social we finished chapter 3 and we completed the Study Guide and we made sure we all had the correct answers. Next week, we will revise as a class to be ready for the quiz on Tuesday, November 19th. Wednesday, we will learn about our new project and this is what we will be doing for the next week and half.

Science
Please check Power School for the most recent grades. The students will receive their test next week and as always, will be encouraged to share their results with parents.

As you will soon start decorating your house for Christmas, I would kindly ask that you think of us before throwing out any sets of Christmas lights that you no longer need.  I am already planning our electricity unit that we will start this spring and am in need of small Christmas lights to be used in our electricity project. If you have any old but working sets of small Christmas lights you would be able to donate, please send them to school with your child at your earliest convenience. Thanks in advance for your help. Here is a photo to show the type of lights we are looking for.
Thank you very much!
Mme Richard

November 8th

ELA
Students started working on their Bridge to Terabithia test for chapters 1-7.  It will take 3 classes to complete.  If students have completed all the class activities and can re-tell the content of these chapters to you with detail, they are prepared for the test, and don't need to study.  Students that have missed classes, or can't re-tell the story so far, need to take the time to make sure they are familiar with the content of chapters 1-7 and can either read the chapters they missed, re-read the book, or listen to the story on youtube.

Please note that Our Remembrance Day Assembly will be on Friday the 8th at 9:00am. On another note, Mr. Ben from the Faculté St-Jean in Edmonton started his first practicum in our Science class. He will be with us until December 6th. Finally, please note that I will be away all next week to attend a convention in Quebec City and that Ms. Pelle will be my substitute teacher.

We finished our unit on Wetlands. We will have a unit test on Wednesday, November 6th. Students should prepare adequately with their notes and the handouts they were provided this term. Students never have to memorize concepts and definitions by heart in Science. They should be able to explain their understanding in their own words. Here is a guide to help you study.
Our next unit is Weather.

ELA:
We have been working on our summarization skills this week.  We have to first identify key information and put it in a graphic organizer, then take those bullet points, and organize them into the required amount of sentences.
