5-3 October 4th

Amazing New!
5-3 Put their hearts and souls into the Terry Fox Run and averaged 9 laps/person!  I was so proud of their determination and perseverance; every stendent embodied the spirit of Terry's legacy that day.  As a result, our lap average per student was the highest in the school and we won a pizza party.  Please email me if there is a dietary concern so everyone can partake.  Date unknown at this time.

Science
We had a great day in the Weaselhead Park! A huge thank you to all parents who were able to join us and help out on that day.
The students had a quiz this week. I will mark it this weekend and give it back next week. Parents, you are encouraged to look at it and discuss the results with your child. As always, please contact me if you have any question.
We are soon going to start a project in Science and I am looking for some cardboard (cereal box type) and some newspaper.  If you have any, please send it with your child sometime next week. Thanks in advance and have a great weekend.

This week, we took a lot of notes about the Atlantic Region. We talked about the first nations, who were using the land before the Europeans came for fishing and fur trading.  Then we discussed about the first French colonies. Next week, we'll continue taking notes about the deportation of the Acadians and the arrival of the loyalist in Nova Scotia, what were the main jobs people had in the past, physical characteristics of the region, some resources and the climate.

FLA - Turcotte

This week we wrote our first short story, it was a little challenge. The story had to be written using present tense. I will collect those stories on Monday, October 7th. Next week, we will have a present tense verb quiz on Thursday, October 10th. To be ready for this quiz, students can make sure they know the ending of -er and -ir verbs. To study, you can also use this website, you can clic "Par groupe" and 1er groupe (-er) or 2eme groupe (-ir). Our song this week is Le sens de la vie, students need to study the lyrics of this song, I will do the song dictee on Tuesday, October 15th.
